1 Amazing grace! how sweet the sound,
that saved a wretch; like me!
I once was lost, but now I'm found,
was blind, but now I see.

2 ’t Was grace that taught my heart to fear,
and grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear
the hour I first believed!

3 The Lord hath promised good to me,
His word my hope secures;
He will my shield and portion be
as long as life endures.

4 When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
than when we first begun.

5 Gena van God, hoe loof ik U,
voor redding onverdiend.
Verloren eens, gevonden nu,
een blinde die mag zien.

6 Genade toonde mij mijn schuld
en heeft mij vrijgekocht.
Gena heeft mij met dank vervuld,
toen ik geloven mocht.

7 Door veel gevaren ging mijn reis,
door tegenspoed en kruis.
Genade heeft mij steeds geleid,
genade brengt mij thuis.

8 Ja, als dit hart, dit vlees bezwijkt
na deze levenstijd,
zal ik beërven in Gods rijk
de eeuwge zaligheid.
