1The Prophet exhorteth to praise God for his love to the church, 5and for that power which he hath given to his saints.

149 1 PRAISE¹ ye the LORD. ^aSing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise ^bin the congregation of saints.

2 ^cLet Israel rejoice in him that ^dmade him: let the children of Zion be joyful in their ^eKing.

3 ^fLet them praise his name ²in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the ^*timbrel and harp.

4 For ^gthe LORD taketh pleasure in his people: ^hhe will beautify the meek with salvation.

5 ⁱLet the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud ^jupon their beds.

6 Let ^kthe high praises of God be in their ³mouth, and a ^ltwoedged sword in their hand;

7 To ^mexecute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people;

8 To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with ^*fetters of iron;

9 To ⁿexecute upon them the judgment ^owritten: ^pthis honour have all his saints. ^qPraise ye the LORD.
