137 1 BY ^athe rivers of Babylon, there we ^bsat down, yea, we wept, when ^cwe remembered Zion.

2 We ^dhanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof.

3 For ^ethere they that carried us away captive ^*required of us ¹a song; and they that ²wasted us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion.

4 How ^fshall we sing the LORD's song in a ^3*strange land?

5 If ^gI forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her ^*cunning.

6 If I do not remember thee, let my ^htongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; ⁱif I prefer not Jerusalem above ⁴my chief joy.

7 ^jRemember, O LORD, ^kthe chil-dren of Edom in the day of Jerusalem; who said, ^5*Rase it, rase it, even to the foundation thereof.

8 O daughter of Babylon, ^lwho art to be ⁶destroyed; happy shall he be, ⁷that rewardeth thee as thou hast served us.

9 Happy shall he be, that taketh and ^mdasheth thy little ones against ⁸the stones.
